Mysterious clay pots in China are 20,000 years old - baked 10,000 years before humans settled down and became farmers

Pottery fragments found in a south China cave have been confirmed to be 20,000 years old, making them the oldest known pottery in the world, according to archaeologists.
Earlier theories have held that the invention of pottery happened during the period about 10,000 years ago when humans moved from being hunter-gathers to farmers.
The new find has been carbon dated by a team of Chinese and American researchers and shows scorch marks that indicate it may have been used in cooking.
These pots push the invention of pottery back to the last ice age - and archaeologists are trying to understand how and why they were made.

The Egyptians explained them as the work of the gods, caused by the presence of evil spirits or their poisons, and cleansing the body was the way to rid the body of their influence. Incantations, prayers to the gods - above all to Sekhmet ^[9] the goddess of healing, curses, and threats, often accompanied by the injection of nasty smelling and tasting medicines into the various bodily orifices, were hoped to prove effective.

Mysterious markings discovered at Great Pyramid of Giza

Markings deep inside the Great Pyramid of Giza could shed light on the monument's secret chambers and tunnels.

London, England (CNN)  A robot explorer has revealed ancient markings inside a secret chamber at Egypt's Great Pyramid of Giza.
The markings, which have lain unseen for 4,500 years, were filmed using a bendy camera small enough to fit through a hole in a stone door at the end of a narrow tunnel.
It is hoped they could shed light on why the tiny chamber and the tunnel -- one of several mysterious passages leading from the larger King's and Queen's chambers -- were originally built.
The markings take the form of hieroglyphic symbols in red paint as well as lines in the stone that may have been made by masons when the chamber was being built.

Prof. Carmen Boulter discussed the history and mysteries of ancient Egypt, what's being hidden and what's being revealed. She was recently in Egypt for a press conference about the DNA results of King Tut's mummy, and found the announcement that the young pharaoh had various medical maladies to be slanted and contradictory to her "psychic archeology" view that the leaders from the 18th Dynasty were highly conscious and healthy beings.
